Adding new Sources in Intella 1.8 from exiting case

Hi,

 

Not sure if this has been covered before, but I've got a case file that seems to be a 1.7.3 case, and when I open it in 1.8 I can't add new sources.  Any reason why this would be?  The Add New option is greyed out.

Upgrade Notes

Intella 1.8 is able to open cases made with Intella 1.7.x and 1.8.

Cases in 1.7.x format do not require any case conversion or re-indexing. However, some 

functionalities and improvements may not be available for such cases. Cases made with 1.7.x cannot 

be re-indexed or extended with additional sources.

Cases made with Intella 1.6 or older are not supported. One can however use Intella 1.7.3 to convert 

these cases to the 1.7 format and then open them in 1.8.

Cases made with Intella 1.8 beta 1 or beta 2 are not supported and should be recreated

Is there a speciifc reason as to why 1.7.3 cases can't be extended?  I have a large case and can't recreate it from scratch due to time and also there are loads of tags, flagged items, comments, saved searches etc.

Intella 1.8 had a number of changes to the database to enable new features that cannot be pushed 1.7.3 cases.

mark you can create a work file from the old case (tags etc) then export that. Reindex the old content along with the new sources, import the work file and you will have captured all the work done previously.

 

I know it's a bit of time however the new indexing engine in 1.8 is much faster and you should be back to where you need to be within a day.

 

I recently did this with around 400GB of mail archives and was back up and running the following day.
