M4H0N3Y
It would be nice to have a Hex Viewer tab within the item view in the desktop version of Intella. Just a simple viewer like that in FTK Imager will do, as sometimes I just want to take a look at the contents or header of a file that hasn't been processed for some reason. Right now I need to export the file and open it in HxD.
Guest Marco de Moulin
Thank you @M4H0N3Y for your suggestion! I will add it to our wish list. Out of curiosity, could you share your main use cases for examining hex data?
M4H0N3Y
Thanks Marco! Most common use case is for NSFs and similar files that fail to decrypt. They usually contain some plaintext indicating the owner or some other identifier that help me decide the relevancy of the file, and how to deal with it. Another use case is for files that error when processing - here again I can try to understand the contents within the hex viewer to decide whether it's relevant or not to the case. Jacques B
I second Marco's request. I use a forensic tool (X-Ways), but I could see instances where it could be convenient to be able to view a file in hex. Nothing fancy, just a simple hex view as one of the available views.
