  1. If you run into the "88087.xml" error during install, don't cancel or ignore just switch to an Explorer window and create the Vendors folder, then continue the installation.

    Inside of the Intella folder

    Windows 7: c:\users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Intella

    Windows XP: c:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Intella

there should be a 'cases' folder. Can you try renaming this when Intella isn't launching and then see if it launches?

  2. You can connect to a shared case from up to 8 workstations at the same time and see other people's comments/previews/tags scroll by in real time.

Shared is a really great way to manage multiple users, but you are right -- as far as I know there is no way to grant access permissions to permit users to view different information.

  3. Adam,

Just for testing, try renaming or removing your %APPDATA%\Roaming\Intella folder.

I ran into this problem a few months ago and it seems like something in the case.xml or cases folder would get corrupted and cause it to stop launching.

  4. Walt I just noticed that you can quickly move among the tags by pressing the letter which corresponds to the first letter in the tag name (ie pressing 'Q' will take you to the first tag starting with 'Q') not exactly what you are asking but it at least gives you a way to move that is faster than manually scrolling.

You're right, Intella does behave this way -- but only in the Tags Facet list. If you go to tag a document (or add a new tag), it does not permit this. Instead, in my experience, it jumps to the text field as soon as you start typing. They could use the text field as a filter box... As the user types a tag name, it narrows the list of tags in auto-complete fashion. Also, this would help prevent users from entering similarly named tags.

  5. I have had this problem occur on a number of different versions of windows. One solution is to create the folder it is asking for:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Aladdin Shared\HASP\vendors\

if it does not already exist, then continue the installation and the Intella installer will add the relevant xml file. (At least, this has worked for my several times in the past.)

  6. I'm fine with starting over and reindexing as a completely new case, except for the process of recreating all of the tags (around 2,100 between the two cases).

What do you mean "import those hashes into your other case?" How is this process done?

    Thanks,

    Walt

  7. Is it possible to export a set of tags and message/document hashes from one Intella case and import those into another case?

For example, I have two cases that have some shared evidence and the cases have now been merged. I would like to also merge the tags from the two cases and evidence into a single case. Is this possible?

    Thanks,

    Walt

  8. My understanding was that the outer circles used to indicate the total number of hits for a term while the overlapping circle indicated the number of documents that responded to both (or all) of the terms, but based on your description I tested "manage" excluding "transfer... [etc]" and it seems to now be applying an exclude function for the other search terms. Maybe this has always been the behavior and I have just misunderstood it in the past?

1.6.1 just updated to 1.6.2 and behavior is the same. I don't remember noticing this under 1.5.4 or 1.6.

  9. The ability to search for To, From, CC, BCC fields individually, currently in the options panel we can only select "all senders/email addresses" which is too broad. This is something I need to do in every single case so for me personally i can't stress it's importance enough.

If you wanted to avoid adding more overhead to the interface, just having the ability to specify more precision in the search keywords text field would be great. For example, instead of expanding Options and deselecting all but Author, simply allow users to search for (in gmail fashion):

    to:email@host.com

    from:email@another.host.com

    bcc:email@address

This way the features would be there for advanced users, documented in help, but without adding to the GUI and requiring additional mouse clicks, not to mention further confusing or complicating the interface for Intella newbies.

    Just a thought!

  10. Is there any way -- even a manual method -- of removing sources so that they no longer appear in the case or in the Locations Facet?

I'm using Intella 1.6 and reprocessing a whole case is just not an option at this point but we have several invalid imports that are just hanging out in the Locations facet confusing things.

In addition, it would be really nice if we could reorder sources, or simply have them display alphabetically.

    Thanks,

    Walt
