  1. With the release of Intella 2.6.1, there were many new features and improvements. Among those was one we saw a frequent need for. Converting cases using the CMD line without a need for a license. This is helpful in situations where you want to continue running your production environment, and slowly convert cases to the newest version.

You can find a usage example to follow here: Using Command Prompt to convert cases

Find what other features were released with 2.6.1 here: Intella Latest Version

  2. Sometimes you need to search for a phrase in Intella, and only want an exact match for that phrase. If that phrase contained a special character, you may get more results than you intended.

The following characters have special meaning in the query syntax and may cause an error message if not used in accordance to the syntax rules:

    + - && || ! ( ) { } [ ] ^ " ~ * ? : / \

A good example would be the phrase "work-around". Normally if you searched for this term using the Keyword Search function, you would get results for work-around, but you would also get hits for the words work and around even if you use quotations to force a phrase search.

Luckily, Intella has a built-in solution for searching for that exact phrase. Content Analysis is what we want to use in this instance. You can see here that when we do a keyword search for "work-around" we get hits for all the words in the phrase:

The reason for this is these special characters are not included when Intella is looking for words in your data. You can easily check what Intella found in each item by going to the Words tab. You will see here that the "-" is not present in the found text.

Now we're going to use Content Analysis to cull down to only the exact phrase we'd like to find. The Regular Expression for this is pretty simple. We just want to input our phrase into ( ) in a new Content Analysis expression.

Now, after running that across our data we can see that only the phrase we want to appear shows up. Also, with Content Analysis, results are highlighted instead of blue like search hits.

RegEx is a great way to accomplish searching for specific things in your data, but it is more time consuming than the keyword search function so knowing how both perform and when to use them will only improve your investigations.

For the RegEx syntax supported by Intella, please follow this link: https://docs.oracle.com/en/java/javase/17/docs/api/java.base/java/util/regex/Pattern.html

  3. Good morning Simon,

That is still an internal ticket that will go through the process of being reviewed, and then decided on being a feature to add to future releases if it seems to be a beneficial addition to the software. Please be sure to check https://community.vound-software.com/topic/40-intella-latest-version/page/2/ for any upcoming version release notes to see if that feature made it into that release.

Thanks for the support and suggestions. We value and appreciate all of them!

  4. Hey Jacques,

First off, thanks for putting all this together to bring to us. We always appreciate the hard work our end users do. We will take a look into the samples you provided and the BASH script.

We might even look at putting this into a future release.

Out of curiosity, could you provide some real world examples this would help your workflow, or times you've already used something like this to help with your work?

As always you can check out Intella Latest Version for the release notes on newly released versions.

    Thanks!

I have a PST that I would like to export into PDF and keep the email and attachment together in one file.

Ex. if I have 5 emails with each having 1 attachment (total 10 documents)  the export would have 5 PDF files.

With Intella I can only export into individual PDFs which will give me 10 PDF file with the example above.

I will provide an example of what I have done in a quick test here:

I selected two emails from my data set that both contain attachments. I create an export and select PDF

    image.png

On the next page I choose the option for Export to single file. You can also choose to split it if it's large file. I left this unchecked.

On the PDF rendering options page these were my options selected. I made sure to check attachment listing with details and attachments contents. You can also check prefer HTML over plain text to have the emails displayed in their native format.

    image.png

This produced a single PDF file export that contained both emails with all their attachments displayed and any meta data I customized to show in the report as well. I have attached what that report looks like as well if you'd like to see if this is what you were wanting to get with your scenario.

    Hello everyone,

Sometimes I come across projects where I need to export the entire data set as PDFs (PDF per email including its attachments), Intella gives the option to export pdf per item or one large pdf. When I have a case like this I have to use a different tool that allows me to do this. Has anyone dealt with this before? what has been the approach? Thank you in advanced.

    Good morning,

Could you provide a little more detail about what type of export you are trying to use with Intella? It sounds like you are wanting to do a bulk export of a set of emails and their complete chains and attachments in a PDF file correct?

What tool do you use to merge?

I'm in the same boat, I hope they add an option to merge parent and child when doing a PDF export.

    Edgar,

Could you also give a little more detail in what your are looking for in your export? You do have the ability to export an entire email and it's contents by using the PDF option in the export wizard. You can also use the Report option to generate all or selected metadata from your emails into a complete PDF export as well.

I'd be happy to expand on both of these queries for you guys if you can shoot over a little more detail.

    Thanks,

    Chris
