  1. Hello Gary,

That is because both 1.8.1 and 1.8.1.1 install to the same "1.8.1" folder and the Intella installer demands a non-existing installation path to prevent lots of potential installation issues.

The solution is to simply enter the folder name in the Destination Folder field in the installer. Do not pre-create the folder in Windows Explorer. (I agree that this could be handled nicer...)

Also note that 1.8.2 has just been released.

  2. Vound is pleased to announce the official release of Intella, Intella TEAM and Intella Connect 1.8.2.

Intella and Intella Connect 1.8.2 are available from the Downloads section in the Vound Support Portal, after logging in with your email address and password. Please read the release notes before installing or upgrading to ensure you do not affect any active cases. Users with a 1.7 license need to use the Dongle Manager to update their dongle to the 1.8 license.

    Highlights
    • Lots of performance and stability fixes
    • Tagging improvements

... and many more. For full details and upgrade notes see the Intella and Intella Connect release notes.

  3. Hello Mark,

I would use the following query:

    *@domain*

I.e., a wildcard at the start as well. The reason for this is that the text indexer recognizes email addresses and registers them as a single "word" in the index.

The host name itself is also turned into an index term, so this also works:

    agent:domain

but using the former is probably safer, especially when the domain has special characters like -

  4. Hi Mark,

This one is hard to provide a general answer too, it really depends on the audience and use case. Are you or your user interested in the most effective deduplication to assess the time needed for review, or perhaps in a deduplicated count that can be verified by other tools that only use MD5 hashing, etc.

I am making a note that we address this in a future user manual and user interface. I see how it is not clear from the user interface that there is a difference in deduplication methods here.

  5. Thank you for the feedback. It would indeed be a deliberate user action, not something that is triggered merely by row selection in the table, due to the database work involved. A hidden export would not be needed, but all sizes need to be read from disk, which can take a considerable amount of time for a large set of items.

  6. The ability to see the number of selected items in the table, list or thumbnails view will be included in Intella 1.8.2.

The cumulative data size of the selected items is a bit more work, don't know if we will include that in the same release. What's the use case for this: billing purposes, knowing how much space an export will take, estimating OCR costs, ...?

  7. Hey there,

Need some clarification on "Unread" Column.

From my understanding, the "Unread" column will only flag out emails that are unread at the time of indexing.

Is it safe to say that emails that were flagged are unread and email that were not flagged were read? Will this also be consistent across different email platform (LN, Outlook, etc.)?

Will there also be any indicator for email that are previewed but not open?

    Thanks and Regards,

    Z.W

    Hello,

The Unread column reflects whether the evidence data marks the item as unread. There are several caveats to be made here:

    • If this property is not set, it could mean that the item has been read or that its read status is unknown - at the moment we don't distinguish between these two situations.
    • At the moment this property is only available for mails in a PST or OST file and for some messages in a cellphone dump.
    • Some tools allow the user to set a message back to "unread", so even when the flag is set, it cannot be said with certainty that the message is unread.

As for the previewed status: you mean previewed by the Intella user? This is reflected by the "Previewed" column and Features facet category. Note that there are also "Opened" and "Exported" categories.

  8. Note that a lot of scanners nowadays do the OCR on the fly as part of the scanning process and add the extracted text to the PDFs that they create. You can easily recognize such documents as they show the scanned image but at the same time allow the blurry text in it to be selected when viewed in e.g. Acrobat. When this is the case, you don't need to redo the OCR; Intella should extracted the text added by the scanner.

  9. Vound is pleased to announce the official release of Intella, Intella TEAM and Intella Connect 1.8.

Intella and Intella Connect 1.8 are available from the Downloads section in the Vound Support Portal, after logging in with your email address and password. Please read the release notes before installing or upgrading to ensure you do not affect any active cases. Users with a 1.7 license need to use the Dongle Manager to update their dongle to the 1.8 license.

    Highlights
    • Greatly improved indexing speed: typically two to four times faster, more on high-end hardware and on very large data sets.

    • Several features for searching and displaying paragraphs: suppress email signatures, search for all occurrences of a selected paragraph in a case, and more.

    • Redesigned Connect user interface, including the addition of a Case Dashboard. This new dashboard provides instant insight into case statistics such as types and volume of data, key email accounts and reviewer activity.

    • Connect can now run as a Windows service, uses a single port for all cases and supports Single Sign-On.

    • Added the Sets visualization, for visualizing large amount of search results (e.g. keyword lists).

    • Support for indexing Bloomberg emails.

    • Many load file indexing and exporting improvements.

    • Improved support for Windows 8/8.1 and Lotus Notes 9.
... and many more. For full details and upgrade notes see the Intella and Intella Connect release notes.

  10. Hello Jason,

    Those are fantastic results!

The reduced time for indexing will mostly be caused by the embedded items not being processed anymore, although beta 2 also has some extra performance tweaks compared to beta 1. Processing of the embedded items mostly means extra demand for the CPU, so skipping those means that the disk relatively becomes a bigger bottleneck, though there are many other factors at play here.

  11. Today we finished the work on Intella Connect 1.8 beta 2.

This release features the following improvements:

    • Allow more than 3 tags to be used as quick tag buttons in the Previewer.
    • Added collapsing and hiding of paragraphs in the Previewer, as well as searching for a given paragraph.
    • Let the native view of an item use all available vertical screen space.
    • Lots of user interface polishing, e.g. improvements in UI responsiveness, print output, display of tabular data.
Also have a look at http://community.vound-software.com/index.php?/topic/202-intella-18-beta-2/ for the corresponding beta 2 release of the desktop software.

  12. Today we have completed the work on Intella 1.8 beta 2, following last month's first beta release.

    Changes in this release are:

    • Merged the Cluster Map and Sets visualizations into a single visualization.
    • Added the ability to exclude certain paragraphs in keyword search, e.g. email signatures and other disclaimers.
    • Many fixes for crawling and extraction results.
    • Merged the Viewer and TEAM Reviewer products into a single Viewer that is capable of handling shared cases (i.e. all of the old TEAM Reviewer functionality).
    • Added support for using Lotus Notes 9 for indexing NSF files.
    • Load file import improvements, e.g. tags are now imported, metadata extracted from binary items and from the load file is now merged.
    • Load file export improvements, e.g. missing parent and child IDs when in-between items such as folders are skipped.
    • Improvements to indexing progress reporting.
    • "Index embedded items", "Index archives" and "Index mail containers" indexing options were ignored.
    • Improvements to the Type facet hierarchy.
    • Brought back the Empty Documents category.
    • Improved display and searching of hyperlinks.
