  1. I found this thread from a forum search, though it is quite dated (2013). I am also interested in being able to customize the fields displayed in the report file(s) generated after exporting using the "export highlighted results". Is this still not customizable/configurable? Thank you.
  2. Thanks for the suggestion. Didn't seem to fix the issue. I moved the .opt and .dat files out of "DATA" and into "PROD004". So now, the structure is: Received_Productions\PROD0004\PROD004.dat Received_Productions\PROD0004\PROD004.opt Received_Productions\PROD0004\DATA\ <- (now empty) Received_Productions\PROD0004\IMAGES\ Received_Productions\PROD0004\NATIVES\ Received_Productions\PROD0004\TEXT\ - pretty much same as before. All looks good on "Load file preview". "Successfully validated. Found 35 columns." "Image preview" states: (with use absolute paths checked): Image file cannot be read: .\PROD004\IMAGES\IMG001\LUN0002_00001104.pdf Paths may not be correctly configured (with use absolute paths unchecked): Image file cannot be read: D:\Received_Productions\PROD0004\.\PROD004\IMAGES\IMG001\LUN0002_00001104.pdf Paths may not be correctly configured I'll keep tinkering. Thanks again for the suggestion.
  3. Hi All, I just received my first load file and walked through the user manual for importing. I seem to be facing one issue (at the moment:): The load file is comprised of 4 folders: PROD004\DATA, PROD004\IMAGES, PROD004\NATIVES, PROD004\TEXT. Step 1: Import Load File = seems to be fine (point to provided .dat and .opt) Step 2: The "Load file preview" tab states: "Successfully validated. Found 35 columns." (I see the columns and populated data) The "Image preview" tab states (for each entry/row): "Image file cannot be read: .\PROD004\IMAGES\IMG001\LUN0002_00001104.pdf Paths may not be correctly configured" - I've tried toggling the "Use absolute paths" checkbox to no avail. I guess my problem revolves around the relative path single dot (current directory). - With "Use absolute paths" unchecked, I see stated: "Image file cannot be read: D:\Received_Productions\PROD0004\DATA\.\PROD004\IMAGES\IMG001\LUN0002_00001104.pdf Paths may not be correctly configured" Do I need to move some folders around? Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.
  4. Can Intella accept EnCase .L01, FTK .AD1, and/or X-Ways .ctr custom content evidence file containers as sources? Thanks
  5. Great topic! Thank you for binging it up. I have used OmniPage Pro a little for OCR, seems to work well (except for original files with a large pixel sizes, such as a bunch of a CAD drawings I tried to OCR once). I believe OmniPage Pro has a min and max value pixel size sweet spot it works within. I plan to try Adobe soon. Would someone be kind enough to elaborate a bit (or a lot on their OCR workflow. I have mulled over several options and am curious what others are doing. Example: 1. Bring sources into Intella for processing 2. Tag the "empty" pdf, tiff, etc. 3. Export the files tagged for OCR out as native (preserving source folder structure?) - Do you keep the folder structure (file location) intact? or just place all to-be-OCRed files lumped together in one folder? 4. OCR using favorite tool (will Acrobat Pro recursively scan files given a top-level folder?) 5. Bring results back into Intella as a new source for searching/tagging - If an OCR-ed file is found to be responsive and needs to be produced, do you produce just the OCR-ed version or both the original (pre OCR) and the OCR-ed version (for quality assurance or other reason)?
  6. Thanks for the multi-sort reminder. If I am sorted first by location (with 100's-1000's of differing locations/item paths sorted alphabetically, and most are unique), however, I do not see how any other secondary sort will have an effect. I will goof around with the sorting when I get back to the Intella computer later tonight. - Thanks for all of your replies Kathleen.
  7. Excellent feature - better even than a lock checkbox! - App just remembers. You use the past tense, "introduced". Is 1.6 currently in testing? Looking forward to it.
  8. I was just moving through items using the preview window and thought of a possibly cool useful feature (which I use all the time doing a similar thing in EnCase Forensic). Think about adding a "lock" checkbox somewhere around the tabs ("Contents", "Properties", "Tree", etc.) which will "lock" the currently selected tab, e.g., "Tree". This way when I am mostly interested in seeing the "Tree" structure of items, I can select that "Tree" tab, enable the "Lock" checkbox and the "Tree" tab will default open on all future previews, until I disable the "Lock" checkbox. - instead of "Next", "Tree" tab, "Next", "Tree" tab, ...
  9. I am in a situation where I have a very large list of items in the Details view with some flagged items (rows). In order to do what I need to do, the list needs to be sorted by Location and I am having to page-down numerous times looking for these flagged items in order to review surrounding files of different file types. It would be helpful if there was a mechanism in place I could use to quickly jump to flagged rows, keeping the sort order I have in place intact - just be able to jump quickly from one flagged item to the next. - perhaps a keyboard shortcut, or little left-right arrows within the Flagged column header, or little highlight lines in the right-side scroll bar indicating Flagged item positions, or ...
  10. Just tested this and untagging DOES follow the rules set for tagging in the preferences. If there is one particular item you would like to untag for whatever reason (and do not want to affect any others), make sure to head up to the preferences and set the tagging preferences to "Only tag the selected item" and uncheck "Tag all duplicates". Perhaps there should be a check box in the "Remove Tags..." window, similar to the "Add Tags ...", to "Override tag preferences".
  11. Do the tagging preferences have any bearing on the untagging of items? - Just wondering if I need to fiddle with the preferences before untagging to make sure only this one item is untagged, and not all duplicates, attachments, and the like as set in my tagging preferences. Thanks.
  12. I have really enjoyed using Intella the past few weeks and have been keeping a running list of notes concerning feature requests, questions, etc I would like to share. Some, if not all, of my notes' line items may be simply attributed to my lack of experience using Intella. (I recently signed up for the online class offered June 20th). NOTES - RAMBLINGS: - What are some uses for the "Flagged" column? How are others using this feature vs. tagging? - How does one flag an entire list (or just highlighted items) in the "Details" pane quickly? (perhaps add the "shift-click" mechanism) - After adding sources and processing is finished, how do you see the total size of all items / files in case? - When searching with a keyword list: could you add an additional option (checkbox perhaps) to automatically add the exact keyword / phrase as a tag to each responsive file / item (following the user's tagging preference settings-parents, children, duplicates, etc.). - When selecting the "Location" facet, could you allow organizing / moving the root source folders up and down the list to suit. - Maybe - Add an option for an alert sound when a processing job completes (indexing, exporting, etc) - to alert a user away from computer. - When highlighting files in the "Details" pane, indicate somewhere on the window the number of items highlighted. - The option, when exporting e-mail messages as PDF files, to have attachments (perhaps only certain attachment types not well suited as pdf, such as .xls, .ppt, etc) saved as native (perhaps in a folder similarly named as the exported parent email msg). - For e-mail messages, is the Message Hash an MD5? Also, what is used to generate the hash? header + subject + body + attachments, etc ? - For the "Details" pane, allow shift-clicking mechanism to quickly sort by additional columns, like EnCase v6. E.g., click on a column header to sort, then a shift-click on a different column will second-sort by that column, etc. Shift-clicking the same column will simply toggle the reverse / eliminate sorting of that column without affecting the sorts already in place in other columns. - For Office documents, etc., are the file properties / metadata, such as author, last printed, etc. listed as a line item in the report? (If converted to PDF or exported as native?) - When dealing with "Empty Documents" (image-based PDFs, TIFFs, etc), I will export them out as native, run them through an OCR process and then add them back in as a new source. I am wondering if there is a "best" way to deal with this. I am finding it difficult to find a good way to bring the new OCR version(s) back in and keep them associated with the "Empty" original version (file path / location) for reporting (if it turns out to be responsive to the investigation). Especially if the "Empty" item was, say, an attachment in an e-mail. Once brought back in, it would nice (though seems difficult programmatically) to have the new OCR version (copy) somehow accompany (attach to) the original empty version. Love the app and the cluster maps! Keep up the great work.
